Surrey Holistic

Hi, I’m Stephanie and I’m passionate about the benefits of yoga!

I hold 2 classes per week at Surrey Holistic in Godalming – currently on Sunday Mornings and Monday Evenings. I also run regular restorative ‘special events’ every few months.

My style is playful, nurturing, and suitable for most people. Whilst yoga can be physically challenging at times, I love finding ways to adapt postures using props such as blocks and straps to make them more accessible for myself and others. Every body is different, so everybody’s practice is uniquely their own.

About me & my practice

In my early twenties I developed sciatica. A physiotherapist suggested that I try yoga to help manage my condition, and I was hooked from my first class!

I discovered that yoga helped me regulate my emotions, cope with the stress of studies and work, and led me to become more in-tune with my body, mind, and sense of self. I enjoyed how adaptable it was to my physical, mental, and emotion state. After several years of regular practice I eventually found myself free of my sciatic issues too.

In 2016, some fifteen years after attending my first class, I decided to take the 200hr Yoga Alliance Professionals Yoga Teacher Training. I’ve taught classes in Godalming ever since and am delighted to now be working from the lovely studio at Surrey Holistic.

Ultimately, whilst we may be making elegant (and sometimes not-so-elegant!) shapes with our bodies, the purpose of yoga is to help us journey inward and connect more fully with ourselves, and then with those around us. You don’t need to be flexible to come to yoga.

Yoga is a practice, not a perfection! If you are interested in coming along to a friendly, nurturing class and practicing with like-minded individuals, please do get in touch!
